Thunder Truck Debuts at Thunder Valley

Wednesday, August 20, 2008

Tayler Malsam make his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut at the O’Reilly 200 at Bristol Motor Speedway on August 20th. The debut will include a special salute to the Pacific Northwest and the Hydroplane & Raceboat Museum.

Malsam will drive the #41 Dodge Ram pickup for CHS Motorsports as part of the recently announced Penske Racing Development program.

A Penske Racing Development driver, Malsam, 19, is currently eighth in the ARCA RE/MAX series championship where he drives the #4 Dodge Driver Development car for Cunningham Motorsports.

As a salute to the Pacific Northwest, Malsam’s truck will debut with graphics featuring the Hydroplane & Raceboat Museum. Located in suburban Seattle, the museum is the nation’s only public, not-for-profit museum dedicated to powerboat racing.

The truck and its debut markings were unveiled in Seattle at the Hydroplane & Raceboat museum gala on July 31.

“Boat racing has been a big part of the Northwest scene for a long time, said Malsam. “Chip Hanauer, a consultant to our team, is an absolute legend in the Northwest and there are races up here every year in Pasco and Seattle. I think hydroplane drivers are completely crazy, but we wanted to recognize the museum and featuring their name and logo in my first race is a good way to help promote the museum and let NASCAR fans know where I’m from.”

The O’Reilly 200 at Bristol Motor Speedway will be broadcast live on Speed TV at 7:30pm (Eastern) on Wednesday, August 20th.
